What exactly is the Consumer Legal Group Portal?
The Consumer Legal Group Portal is our proprietary back-end litigation management system. The Client Portal is where we complete the paperwork necessary to start litigation. All of the information previously entered by our members is already there. We can obtain out-of-state documents through five clicks of a button and upload them to client’s case files within minutes. Seeing the history of all the documents filed and dates gives us an incredible edge when negotiating settlements. Many times it is well worth it to pay for a case to be dismissed without prejudice just to take a reasonable deal. Having all the documents available for review makes it easy to check the history of your claim and make sure the file is complete.
Features of the Consumer Legal Group Portal
The Consumer Legal Group portal is a comprehensive hub for a myriad of legal services. Upon entering, users are greeted by an intuitive user interface that is easy to maneuver. A central nav bar offers several options, including searching for a lawyer in the US and Canada, accessing a variety of legal tools and resources, or viewing attorney reviews and ratings. Through this feature, one can apply filters by location and criteria to search for lawyers who can help with a specific area of law, such as patent lawsuits or online defamation.
Accessibility is a key feature of the portal. The site is optimized for mobile, allowing users to connect with legal resources on-the-go. The platform is compatible with all devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers. This means that users can seek legal assistance or resources from anywhere at any time.
The types of legal resources available on the portal are diverse. Apart from the directory of lawyers, the platform also offers free access to over 20 legal resources. Some of these include an attorney fee calculator, a bankruptcy means test calculator, and a lien priority calculator. These tools are designed to help consumers understand the legal processes they may be heading into. The site offers tools by practice area that help the user understand some rules, regulations, and regulations surrounding some of the common scenarios one may find themselves in.
The interactive tools offered provide yet another layer of engagement for the user. These include a bankruptcy means test calculator that helps users determine if they are eligible for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, a lease vs buy calculator, and a lien priority calculator. These calculators provide detailed information on financial implications and processes that consumers often find difficult to understand. The lease vs buy calculator, for example, allows a user to see the long-term financial impact of leasing a car versus purchasing it; a decision that many consumers struggle with.
The overall accessibility, ease of use, and interactive features of the Consumer Legal Group portal make work the widespread acclaim that it receives. The informational element of the site is extremely valuable for consumers who may need legal aid but find it costly or too complex to approach.
Advantages Of the Consumer Legal Group Portal
When you have a legal issue, determining if you have a case or what your next steps should be is half the battle. Knowing who to turn to for advice can be just as difficult. The Consumer Legal Group Portal, Consumers.Legalhelp.ca, takes out the stress of finding a qualified lawyer and provides you with online access to professional, confident legal help. Not every legal matter requires a swath of paid hours from expensive lawyers. Some of those infuriating problems can be solved without engaging in protracted negotiation with a legal representative, and at a fraction of the cost. For those situations, the Consumer Legal Group Portal provides consumers with expert legal advice in a convenient manner. On the portal, you can obtain expert legal advice online for a low fixed fee, and at no point will you need to hire a lawyer if you do not want to. The convenience of the internet cannot be overestimated; while traditional lawyers work "9 to 5," the portal has no such limitation. So long as you are connected to the internet you can send a message to an expert lawyer anytime you wish. Soliciting advice may not be urgent, but it also may not be convenient for you to call up or visit a lawyer’s office to ask them for their opinion. You might not be familiar with the legal process, and so sending an email with your questions allows you to formulate them in writing and edit them before you send them. In addition, you are able to freely review the responses you have been given at your leisure later on, knowing that this advice is archived as well. Traditional lawyers are certainly far from inexpensive; by sending messages after hours, you raise your overall rate for those hours significantly.
Registering and Using the Consumer Legal Group Portal
Consumers don’t have to buy a claim to sign up for the portal. The portal is free, and you don’t have to buy anything to register.
The portal does not cost anything to join or use. Of course, joining doesn’t mean we have your info so you can get paid on any current or future claim. We have to match you to a valid claim you may have.
You just have to go to www.consumerlegalgroup.com and click on their "register" link in the upper right corner. You have to fill in an information form with your name, email address, physical address, and phone number. Then, you’ll hit the magic "Submit Registration" button. After that, you will have to give them some info we’ll need to verify if you have a claim. They may include information such as your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number. They may also ask questions about your contact information and/or financial information. This form of precaution is known as "the secret way to make sure you’re really you when you come back." The more specific the questions they ask about information controlled by you, the more confidence they’ll have that they’re dealing with the actual claimant instead of a scammer. Just take a few minutes and fill in the information the web portal asks for. It may seem like a lot of info. It’s important in these fraud-prone days that we take steps to safeguard the integrity of your info, and make it more difficult for scammers to impersonate you. If you find this all too tedious, or if you run into difficulties, you can reach out to one of our intake specialists for help getting the ball rolling.
Once you’ve completed the process and submitted your information, you should receive a confirmation message on-screen. That will tell you the process has been started. It will also send you an email to verify that the email address you entered is correct and that we are communicating with the right person. Now you can log in to the portal from anywhere, any time! The portal’s dashboard includes information such as the number of claims we’re aware of in your case – plus their progress in getting paid on any open claims and other useful information such as important dates and an inbox for messages.
If you have logged in and been issued a claim, you’ll get a tracker showing the current status of your claim. The tracker shows how many times your number has been submitted to the oil company, and how many times the oil company has paid. There will also be a cumulative total of the money you are owed from that oil company. We do this for you at no cost, and we only charge you a percentage if we get the claim paid.
The section of the portal you’ll probably find most interesting is the "Claims" section. Here you’ll find a list of the claims we’ve confirmed and that you’re eligible to get paid on. You can expand each claim to get details about the claim(s) you’re a part of. It shows who is on the claims, the date of the last submission, the amount that’s owed to you, and how big the oil company’s last payment was, among other details. We also have upcoming court dates and deadlines in the "Upcoming Events" area of the dashboard. This keeps you up to date on what’s going on with each claim you’re a part of.

Plans For the Future of the Consumer Legal Group Portal
As always, we are listening to your feedback, both through the members-e mail address and in face to face meetings with Zelle Hofmann attorneys. One of the things we have heard from consumers and consumer advocates is that our clients should not have to log in to see the docket or check for other updates on their lawsuits.
We have made that change, and all of that information is now accessible through our website [insert link here]. We also believe that many people have a right to see at least some of this information before they make a decision about whether to join a lawsuit . Litigation materials are also available through our website [insert link here] and are not behind a password protected login. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to see what is going on in their cases. We are currently working on providing more information about the telephone number for the discovery department through the portal so we can field more of the questions you have without generating emails back and forth. We are hopeful that all these changes will be live by the end of August.
